2012 Wildlife Weekend Photo Contest and Show

It’s that time again…

Friends will again be sponsoring an amateur photography contest and show in conjunction with the annual Wildlife Weekend celebration at the Park.  Amateur photographers of all ages, including children and teens, are encouraged to participate. Eligible photographs must be taken at Steele Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee and be focused on the natural aspects of the park.  Prizes will be awarded, based on the general interest, creativity, and technical merits of the photographs.  Professional and/or experienced amateur photographers from the Bristol area will serve on the panel of judges. All entries will be displayed at the Wildlife Weekend celebration, scheduled for October 12 – 13.

According to Robin Feierabend, Vice President of the Friends organization and photography show coordinator, “The Wildlife Weekend Photography Contest and Show has become a very popular event at Wildlife Weekend.  The quality and variety of the entries we receive is always impressive.  This is a great opportunity for us to display the beauty and diversity of our park though photography. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity for park-goers of all ages to have fun, enjoying the creativity of photography and the wonder of nature. ”

The deadline for submitting photographs is Friday, September 28, 2012.  Complete rules and application form are available to download here.  In addition, they are available to be picked up at the Nature Center, the Bristol Tennessee Department of Parks and Recreation at the Slater Center, and Mountain Sports Ltd. on Commonwealth Avenue.  They may also be requested by e-mail from mail@friendsofsteelecreek.org.
