2021 Wildlife Weekend Photo Contest Announced

Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park has announced its 15th Annual Wildlife Weekend Photography Contest and Show, traditionally held in conjunction with Wildlife Weekend at Steele Creek Park, in Bristol Tennessee. Amateur photographers of all ages, including children and teens, are encouraged to participate. Eligible photographs must be taken at Steele Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee and should be focused on the natural aspects of the Park. Prizes will be awarded, based on the general interest, creativity, and technical merits of the photographs. Professional photographers and naturalists from the Bristol area will serve on the panel of judges. All entries will be displayed online during the year following Wildlife Weekend; prints of all prize winning entries will be displayed at The Nature Center at Steele Creek Park.

This year’s contest will again be conducted entirely online. All photographs must be submitted by e-mail in digital format. The deadline for submitting photographs is 11:59 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021. Complete rules and instructions for submitting entries are available here, or by e-mail request at photos@friendsofsteelecreek.org.

Steele Creek Park is a beautifully diverse sanctuary in the middle of Bristol. This is a wonderful opportunity for those with a camera to demonstrate that natural beauty and diversity. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity for park-goers of all ages to have fun through the creativity of photography and the wonder of nature.

Wildlife Weekend at Steele Creek Park (October 8th and 9th) is an annual event featuring a variety of children’s activities, speakers, and interpretive walks, all relating to the natural history of the Park and the region. We also will again be sponsoring a week-long BioBlitz, as we did last year. Winners of the photography contest will be announced at noon on Saturday during Wildlife Weekend.
