Realizing that Steele Creek Park was something truly special, a community gem, City leaders in 1996 appointed a 10-member committee to create a vision for the Park’s future. What they couldn’t have known then, however, was that this grassroots committee would draft an ambitious blueprint for Steele Creek and then, through the creation of the all-volunteer Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park, begin whittling away at a long list of impressive goals.
BTN-TV recently spoke with Steele Creek Nature Center Manager Jeremy Stout and Friends members Sonie Schermer, Robin Feierabend, Wes Walker, and Michele Galjour Sparks to learn more about our group’s work for nearly 3 decades. We invite you to watch the video to learn more about Friends and how you can join in our mission to “engage, inspire and promote educational experiences and physical activities within the Park.”
The Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the City of Bristol, Tennessee’s Department of Community Relations for their outstanding work in producing a video chronicling the history and impact of our organization. We are deeply thankful for the time, talent, and professionalism of the entire team. Their work reflects the best of public service and exemplifies the strong partnerships that make our community thrive. We are especially grateful to Anne Dunham for her exceptional leadership, creative vision, and attention to detail throughout the entire process. Her dedication to telling the story of Friends in such a compelling and thoughtful way has resulted in a piece that beautifully captures the heart of our mission, the legacy of community service, and the vital connection between people and the natural beauty of Steele Creek Park.
This video not only celebrates the rich history of our organization, but also serves as an inspiring reminder of what can be accomplished through collaboration, volunteerism, and a shared love for nature. It is a valuable resource that will help us share our story with new audiences and strengthen support for the park we cherish.
