Annual Park Events

Today, we celebrate World Bee Day🐝, an international day established by the United Nations in 2017 to raise awareness about the importance of bees and beekeeping and spotlight the global challenges bees face. Did you know bees do more than just make honey? Bees are responsible for pollinating 70% of the top 100 food crops around the globe and play a vital role in ecosystems, agriculture, and food production. However, bee populations globally are threatened by ✔️Loss of habitat and food sources ✔️Pesticide exposure ✔️Climate breakdown ✔️Parasites and diseases ✔️Invasive species You can help protect and support bees🐝 by planting a pollinator garden with native flowers🌺, choosing bee-safe alternatives to harmful pesticides, building a bee hotel, supporting local beekeepers, and sharing bee knowledge with friends and family.

MEET THE BEETLES: Come learn about the world’s most diverse group of organisms. Come see “up close” from our collection of beetles. We’ll also have a chance to see a few “in the wild” around the Nature Center. Meet there on Tuesday, May 27th at 11:00 am.

“The next Hike with Harvey will be on Wednesday, 21 May. Meet at MillCreek Parking Lot at 2:00 pm for a moderate to difficult 4 mile hike around the East Ridge Trail looking for spring wildflowers and an albino deer. The hike should take 2.5-3.0 hours. Hope to see you there. Happy Trails. “

REMINDER: The Bristol Bird Club will conduct their monthly walk at Steele Creek Park on THURSDAY, MAY 8th.
